New York Comic Con Vacation And More!

Fri Apr 11, 2008, 10:09 AM
So, from Tuesday, April 15th to Tuesday April 22nd, I'll be on vacation in New York, and from Friday April 18th to Sunday, April 20th, I'll be at the New York Comic Con. On the :iconteh-comix: account I've posted my planned schedule for at the con, and I'll post any pictures and notes from the con to that account. I'll also be going to do a bit of tourist stuff, and take pictures from that, and upload the good ones here. From the restaurants I'll be uploading reviews, and, well, we'll see what else I'll upload later. ;) I've also updated my avatar, as some of you might have noticed, and I've uploaded a larger version of it to my gallery. Well, until next time freaks and geeks, I'll catch you on the flip-side.

Seeking Creative Team for Long-Range Project:

Tue Nov 6, 2007, 3:55 AM
Recall is a vigilante superhero story I have been developing story-wise and concept-wise for a couple of years. Lacking the current artistic expertise to create it completely by myself, I need your help. I want to create the comic and host it online, possibly publishing it after enough fan-base has been established, and possibly entering it into a few contests (Zuda, for example) or submitting it to a publisher after enough pages have been completed. It is my intent to have one page completed every day if possible, but I would settle for one page every six days or less. In order to reach that goal, I/the team would need these positions filled:

1) Writer - That'd be me, but if anyone in the group has any ideas for refining the series or for the future of it, brainstorming and conferencing is amiable.

2) Illustrator(s) - For sure the project will need at least one illustrator, possibly two if one did the characters and one the backgrounds, or some other arrangement...

3) Colorist - This series might possibly work without color, but I believe that it shall be more vivid and pleasing to see it in full color rather than grayscale.

4) Letterer - For now, that's me. If the project accelerates to the point I am unable to keep up, I might put out an ad for one. For right now, though, another letterer is superfluous.

5) Web Coder/Webmaster - All right, I can code html and css, but not nearly as fast as those who have been at it longer than me. In addition, I'd rather have it look more professional than, say, this "classified ad" I put up here.

All of these positions (sans writer and letterer) can be filled by one individual if they wish, but it is my belief that it would lighten the load to share it. In addition, this is a long-range project with no guaranteed payout. If there is any profit gained, it would be divided up among the team members according to the level of involvement they have had with the project itself (For example, if the team consists of 1 illustrator, 1 writer/letter, 1 colorist and 1 webmaster, the profit we be thus- 30% illustrator, 25% colorist, 20% webmaster/coder 30% writer/letterer). If there is no profit, no payments shall be sent.

If you are looking only for a paid job-look elsewhere. If you are looking for a short, one-shot project-look elsewhere. If you are unable to keep a consistent pace, or are constantly fighting with your computer/internet-look elsewhere. This project needs dedication if it is to get off the ground, let alone enter ANY contest or submit it to a publisher. If the group is able to do one complete page every three days, for example, day 1 the script would be illustrated, day 2 it would be colored, and day 3 it would be lettered. As soon as one member finishes their deadline page, the could immediately being on the next page. Day 2 or 3 the script for page 2 would be sent to the illustrator, etc. I currently have issue 1 pages 1-19 scripted, with the rest of the issue plotted out but not formatted yet, and issues 2-12 planned with a basic outline. Each issue would be about 45 pages or slightly less.

Please check the concept art and script page for some minor examples. For further narrowing of the location the story takes place in, it begins in late 2010, in Seattle, WA, USA. Preferably, the art would be done in Western Style, but a hybrid or original style may work as well, if I have seen enough examples to review.

If you believe that you could fill a slot on the team email me at the address below with any questions, comments, sketches, portfolios, etc. Please do not waste my time and yours by asking any question regarding pay, update schedule or another topic fully and clearly covered in the above paragraphs.

TRANSFORMERS MOVIE!!!

Tue Jul 3, 2007, 6:33 PM
just got back from the mall of america
where i saw the new transformers flick
with my brother. now, normally when the
two of us go to see a movie, we end up
talking it over a lot afterwards and decide
that *at least* fifteen minutes should have
been cut out of the movie, or added if we
knew the story it was based off of. in
addition, if we see/hear anything in the
movie of noteworthy awesomeness
(beyond special effects in general), we
pound our fists together, typically no more
than six times, even for spiderman or
batman. we also typically talk about the
movie for about half an hour afterwards,
going back and forth about what we liked
the most. well, see, this film was different...
first of all, we agreed that less than three
minutes could have been removed, and even
those were still awesome! During the movie
we pounded fists at least, i repeat, at *least*
fifteen times, and afterwards we talked for
about two hours on it and what we liked, back
and forth commenting on it compared to the
various tv and comic series, as well as the
original movie. :D now, i won't give any spoilers,
but this is a must watch, definitely the best movie
of the year in total. :D go watch it! XD

sick...

Wed Jun 20, 2007, 5:26 AM
i doubt very many people on here will notice or care about
this journal, seeing as how wonderfully together our little
community has always been, but for those that do, here's
to you:

monday night my immune system decided to congratulate
me on not having a sick day in almost ten months by making
me retch out all my food at about midnight. so, yeah, that was
fun. then i woke up tuesday an hour and a half after i was
supposed to be to work (despite setting five alarms. usually
i wake up after the second), and proceeded to regurgitate
what i had thought was an empty stomach, but i was wrong.
so, i called in sick yesterday and started feeling better just
shortly before my shift would have ended. so, i thought "great,
at least that's over with now. i can reset my major sickness
counter now and let it run for another couple of years." (see,
i've had headaches, colds, coughs, etc. before, but nothing
major enough to stop me from coming in to work or school
in, oh, about three and a half years. so, yeah.) then i went
over to my aunt's with my family like i do almost every tuesday.
my dad and bro just got back from a vacation to new york city
and washington d.c., and so they had a lot to share with us,
both memories and souvenirs. (amongst those for me were
a "transformers" drawing book, a "midtown comics" business
card, a "you don't know me" united states federal witness
protection agency tshirt, "ultimate spider-man" volume 1 [and
yes! it is "spider-man"! there's a hyphen there most people
seem to ignore!!! sorry 'bout that, former english major here.
:P XD], and a "green lantern" green tshirt. all in all, very nice!)
still felt fine until i went to be that night, where i felt a bit quesy
when i laid in bed, and eventually woke up at 5:30 just to rush
over to the toilet, purge, clean, repeat, and call in sick again
when i got back home. so, since i haven't been this sick in a
while and i've thrown up three times in three days, i'm going
to go see a doctor to make sure it's nothing i should be worried
about. i'm not all that concerned, but i do get paid to work, so
i prefer not to take unscheduled days off, whereas in school i
half wanted to skip at least a quarter of the time because of
the general creeping sense of boredom. anyway... so, i'm
waiting for the appointment, and i already have tomorrow off,
so i'm going to work on the "teh comix" site and related stuff,
do some stuff i've been neglecting and take it easy with lotsa
tasty fluidic enjoyments we like to call juice. so, i'll catch you
all on the flip-side, mix-o-freak, the untouchable, signing out.

~mix-o-freak, the other white meat.

oh! and before i forget, check out this topic in the forum to
learn more about teh comix and the community that a few
acquaintances and i are trying to build. we can use all the
help we can get, and we want you!
